Definition of Zakat:
Zakat means to purify, increement( barkat) the money and the things you own.

Types of Zakat:-
Their are two types of zakat.
1. Zakat on Gold and Silver
2. Zakat on money for trading, property, livestocks animals.
Who should give Zakat?
Zakat is mandatory for that muslim who is Mature and Wise enough to understand everything and those who fulfill the following conditions:
1. Owner of money, property (money of trading,livestocks)
2. The money he owns must be in his acquisition.
3. Money should be greater then his daily requirements (must fulfill all his requirements).
4. Money should be free from loans (means no one owns money from him).
5. One year should have been passed over this money.

To whom Zakat is to be given?
The Holy Quran says in chapter 10 Surah al Tauba Ayat 60
Translation:
As-Sadaqat (here it means Zakat) are only for the Fuqara' (poor), and Al-Masakin (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and for to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah's Cause (i.e. for Mujahidun - those fighting in the holy wars), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.
